This is an oil painting on wood panel.

This was my first successfully completed tondo. By almost all measures it remains the most ambitious. I have learned since to limit ambitions for early format experiments, in order to more easily and effectively apply the results derived from the process. The great advantage of the tondo is that it eliminates the largely extraneous yet time-consuming corners generally non-essential to the subject. In this work I used an eye-straining and hand cramping scalar reduction mark at the boundary which tended to draw out the amount of work considerably. To apply the Simplexity style, I rotated this work constantly and applied layers in whirls, rings and spirals. It was chosen by Art Span for the first annual art walk in the San Francisco Financial District.
